Setup / concept
There is a feature in Synergist for marking phases as optional. Values on phases marked as optional are not included on dashboards, list totals, quotes or estimates. This can be useful for modelling different versions of a job for presentation to your client. The feature needs to be enabled in company settings > switches > estimating section:
Usage
Phases can be marked as optional from either the phase details tab, or from the list of phases within a job:
Once a phase is marked as optional you will be unable to add actual costs (time & materials, purchases, expenses) to it. Similarly, a phase which already carries at least one actual cost cannot be marked as optional. Changing the status to picked or standard allows actual costs to be submitted. The option status is displayed as an icon in the right-most column on the phases tab of a job, and also in the the phase pill whenever it is displayed:
Reports / lists
Once activated a new filter control will appear in relevant reports / lists to allow you to include / exclude phases based on their option status:
Date dependency
If you are using either phase driven or stage driven dates, start and end dates on optional phases are ignored for working out job start and end date, unless the job has only a single phase, in which case its dates are always used regardless of option status.
Job level tabs
Job level views of time, material and purchases / expenses have totals indicating optional / non optional phase totals:
