Where’s the Sage company file and Sage data?

Dave Harvey -

Issue:

Unable to find the Sage company file.

Resolution:

This will always be located locally

It can normally be found in the application data area:
- Documents and Settings (pre Vista); Program Data (post Vista)
- Sage folder

Pre Sage 2008:
- Sage Program Folder
- Program Folder
i.e. C:\Program Files\Sage 2007\Accounts

Windows Vista and Windows 7 – C:\ProgramData\Sage\Accounts\2008

Windows XP – C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sage\Accounts\2008\

If you still can't locate the COMPANY file you may need to change your folder view to show hidden items.  Once unhidden you will need to go to: Program Data\Sage\Accounts

Other notes:

Sage uses a COMPANY file with numeric file extensions to reference data paths for your sage folders eg. S:\COMPANY.001. To reset Sage and to get it to start the open company wizard, close Sage and delete this COMPANY file.

You can also find information on the location of the Sage data file by opening Sage and going to the Help > About screen. Check the entries for 'directories'.

Sage data can be held in any location - locally or on the network. If local to one machine, it's unlikely that anyone else will be able to access it. If on the network, anyone with permission will be able to access it. Anybody who wishes to export transactions from Synergist to Sage will need to have the full 4D client software for Synergist installed on their machine, as well as the Sage software.
